Breast Care Nurse

 

The role of the Breast Care Nurse(BCN) is to provide patients with breast cancer, their family and carers appropriate support, information, education  and  treatment modalities throughout the breast cancer journey.

The BCN also aims to support  and facilitate women to make the best  treatment decisions and gain a sense of control and empowerment over their management

The BCN communicates with members of the multidisciplinary team and relevant health providers to facilitate well - coordinated  patient care.

 

 

                                                            The BCN will:

 
provide appropriate information
reinforce and discuss this information
offer both practical and emotional support
provide referrals to other support services where indicated
provide advice regarding the purchase of a breast prosthesis, wigs, bras etc

She is a constant face throughout your treatment and is available outside your scheduled appointment time if needed.
